The Schools of Riihimäki have gone through a reformation process – the buildings have been renovated and the schools have been equipped with technology. Pohjolanrinne School was chosen to be a Smart Board Showcase School (Interactive whiteboards).
We have begun to plan and use different teaching methods because of these new devices.
Pedagogical approach
Phenomenon-based learning means that students study broader contents in a real-world context and in lessons of different subject areas.
Phenomenon-based learning enables co-operation between different school subjects and produces rich learning experiences: Learning is meaningful, visible and relevant to the students.
Phenomenon-based learning and teaching can be an easy step to further the change in learning and in school culture.
It is also very natural to use different digital devices (like interactive white boards) and learning enviroments when you employ this method.
