On which side
to iron
- Cotton work clothes and uniforms, tablecloths and aprons
are ironed on the right side. Other textiles are ironed on the wrong
side or both sides.
- The shine of the textile will increase, if it is ironed
on too hard a surface or if the iron is pressed too hard on the seams
and folds.
- Dark and semi-opaque or opaque fabrics are ironed on the
wrong side of the garment.
- Shine can be reduced by steaming the textile against a
soft surface.
- You can try to remove burn stains with a weak solution
of vinegar or detergent

Order of ironing
General rules for ironing
- Ironing is always begun with the garment that requires
the lowest temperature.
- Small and demanding details are ironed first
- Parts a double-layer of fabric are ironed first on the
wrong side and last on the right side of the garment.
- The ironed parts of the fabric are moved away from the
self, to avoid wrinkling of the warm and damp textile.
- Clothes are folded only after they have cooled.
